Business planning can be a difficult and drawn out process. It’s important to understand which financial model works best for your practice and to implement that model effectively.

 

This workshop will discuss the challenges around strategic planning and creating a model which is financially viable and how to develop a strategic approach for offering integrated primary health care services to your patients and community.

 

By attending this workshop you will explore:

 

  • What mix of services should be in a Centre of Excellence
  • How services should be coordinated to meet the needs of patients with chronic and complex health needs
  • Developing sustainable financial and business plans to support best practice
  • How to connect primary health providers with mental health and aged care facilities

Inner East Community Health Service

Rod is the former CEO of the Inner East Community Health Service, a position he has held for the last 15 years. He has been the CEO of two other Victorian community health services prior to this.

 

He is involved in the planning and implementation of a number of Super Clinic and related projects and provides strategic advice to many primary healthcare organizations.

 

He has an academic background in Education, Research and Policy.

Understanding the needs and expectations of GP’s in order to recruit them to rural and remote areas can be a difficult challenge. It’s important to understand their needs and provide them with the appropriate resources to ensure retention.

 

This workshop will provide you with the tools and understanding to:

 

  • Audit your recruitment-readiness
  • Understand the candidates’ interests
  • Work with the Governments agenda to help your clinic • Overcome your recruitment issues

Health Recruitment Plus

Peter Barns is currently CEO at Health Recruitment Plus, a rural workforce agency funded by the Australian and Tasmania governments. HR+ has been recruiting GPs to Tasmania for over ten years and are keenly involved with retention in general practices, promoting the Positive Workplace program to improve the recruitment and retention of staff (both clinical and administrative) in practices. He has also worked as a project manager and recruitment officer with the GP Divisions in Tasmania, and prior to this worked with at-risk and homeless street kids in Launceston.

 

Peter gained a Bachelor degree in Theology from the Melbourne College of Divinity and was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1992. He worked as a minister for ten years before swapping the pulpit for the shelter under the bridge. He holds a diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and is a director on the Board of the Migrant Resource Centre (Northern Tasmania), a not-for-profit organisation providing support to humanitarian refugees and other migrants.
